Music is the language that XILLAN speaks fluently. At his core he is a storyteller and during this residency he wants to embrace his versatility and develop his voice as a theater maker. He's working on a personal one coming of age story about his journey and experiences as a Black and queer person in Suriname and the Netherlands.
Afra Ernst’s journey, began when she moved from Indonesia to the Netherlands at the age of six. Now, she's eager to return to her roots and explore her complex family history, infusing these myriad experiences into a captivating dance documentary. Her quest raises profound questions about the meaning of such a journey and how the language of dance can be harnessed to convey and process it.
