Personal quest for the body as home

Where do you come home when your country is occupied? If your body is always brought into question? If your place between masculinity and femininity does not fit the image people have of you as a dancer? The Palestinian choreographer and dancer Hala Salem, born and raised in In this coming-of-age story, Deir Hanna takes you along in her search for identity and self-love. On Lynn Adib's groundbreaking mix of Arabic folk and electronics, Salem finds a home in her body through language and movement. A refuge that floats between masculinity and femininity, between attachment and detachment, between loss and finding yourself again.

In collaboration with producer Storytelling Centre and co-producer CC Amstel, What You See co-produces this deeply personal exploration of the body as a vessel of belonging.
