WHAT YOU SEE SYMPOSIUM

Three art works, three guest, thee conversations. Led by writer and model Valentijn de Hingh, What You See Symposium constantly shifts your perspectives through the art you’re experiencing.

After the opening statement of feminist, writer and editor Meredith Greer, the symposium zooms in on art and dialogue. Director Ira Kip presents scenes from her tumultueus performance Shrew Her, that questions our ideologies of gender roles. Writer and biologist Mariken Heitman reads from her sensorial debut De Wateraap (the Water Ape) and shares new material from her coming book. Photographer Marvel Harris and film maker Jessica Villerius show a fragment of the personal documentary ‘Alles is Nu’ (Everything is now) in which you witness the transitioning process of Marvel. All artists are asked to invite a guest that will reflect upon the work, after which the conversation is opened up to the audience.

Students of Music 3.0 of the HKU Conservatory will surprise you before and during What You See Symposium with short pop-up performances. And be challenged to play You’ll Never GUESS WHO, the unplayable version of the classical game Who Is It?.
