What You See Festival
What You See Festival is the leading, multidisciplinary and international festival in the Netherlands that focuses on gender diversity, inclusion and identity in art and culture. From the city of Utrecht we annually show a polyphonic program, in which theater, dance, visual arts and dialogue come together. Our goal is to shift perspectives with art and create social impact.

The festival is ambitious, activist, connecting, and works from a solid (inter)national base with a broad network of makers, organizations and audiences. We strive for inclusivity in everything we do.

In the period 2025-2028, What You See will receive multi-year subsidies from the Municipality of Utrecht, the Province of Utrecht and the Performing Arts Fund.

  • are familiar with the Utrecht cultural scene (living in Utrecht is a plus)
  • are fluent in both Dutch and English 
  • are available on Wednesdays, our joint office day

What You See consists of a team that works closely together and carries the content together. Your point of contact is the artistic and general director. Your tasks consist of: 

  • Programming & festival dramaturgy
    You will engage in dialogue with artists, initiate co-curation projects, develop relevant tailor-made programmes, search for performances, find the right context and space for programmes and think about the audience experience. These programmes can also take place outside the festival period. Your focus is mainly on the local and national field. 
  • Dramaturgical guidance
    In various projects we work together with young artists and students. You support them in their development with a dramaturgical perspective.
  • Spider in the web
    You keep your colleagues informed about the developments of the programs, connect them with artists, are responsible for the planning and enter the correct information in the database. 
  • Fundraising
    You translate your ideas into text and help write grant applications and reports.

Procedure
After the deadline of 5 May, we will contact you by Friday 9 May at the latest and you will hear whether you have been invited for an interview. The first interview will take place on Wednesday afternoon 14 May. The second interview will take place on Wednesday 23 May. The interviews will be conducted with the director and one of the team members.
