For two years, we've seen a genocide unfold before our eyes in Gaza. Israel is bombing homes, infrastructure, schools, hospitals, and people. More than 60.000 people have been murdered, and the wounded are unable to receive care due to the destruction of healthcare. Israel deliberately exploits hunger and thirst as a war strategy, deliberately shooting people in desperate search of food. They silence journalists and erase Palestinian culture. No one is safe there.
We all see it, we all know it.
Israel disregards international law, human rights, and the law of war. All humanity has vanished. Our government reacts with deafening silence and actively supports Israel. Concerned Citizens are taking action: with protests, red lines, boycotts, and by trying to break the Israeli blockade by boat. They are often labeled terrorists.
As a festival fighting for a more equal society, What You See joins the cultural boycott of Israel targeting institutions and organizations (the boycott explicitly does not target individuals or their origins). We urge everyone to continue speaking out as citizens and working to end genocide. To maintain collective pressure. To preserve our humanity.
