Increasing the impact of WYS together

We are proud to announce that Annette van Zwoll will be the new general and artistic director of What You See Festival. She will succeed Vincent Wijlhuizen as of May 1.

Annette van Zwoll has been involved with What You See Festival since its first edition in 2018. As co-founder, programmer and festival dramaturge, she has been invaluable in helping to shape the soul and power of the festival. She also works as a dance dramaturge and project coordinator at home and abroad. In all her work, she questions what we see as 'normal' and invites us to take a broader perspective.

“Annette van Zwoll convinced us of her qualities during the careful selection procedure. Van Zwoll is a solid all-rounder with a strong artistic intuition and broad experience. With her convincing artistic and business vision, activist heart and practical approach, she is the right person to lead What You See. We look forward to the future!” ~ Kirsten Brandt, Chair of the Supervisory Board

“Human rights are currently being openly and consciously dismantled. The consequences for the LGBTQIA+ community, women, people of color and anyone who deviates even slightly from the rigid norm are huge. We need places to have collective art experiences, to ignite the imagination and to fully engage our human values. What You See Festival is such a place. It focuses on art that questions the norm and touches our humanity. I look forward to working with the team to increase the impact of What You See!” ~ Annette van Zwoll
