GIRL is Lukas Dhont’s acclaimed debut film about the life of the 15 year–old Lara, who dreams of becoming a professional ballerina. Iron discipline is needed in order to make this dream come true, but the challenge is even greater because Lara was born with the body of a boy. The Belgian/Dutch co–production the big discovery at the Cannes film festival. It won the Caméra d’Or (the prize for the best debut film) and the leading actor Victor Polster, himself an aspiring dancer, won an acting prize.
