Brazilian trans twin sisters and theatre duo Irmãs Brasil open What You See with their confrontational performance Eunuchs. In it, they reflect on transition technologies, gender performance, and historical castration processes. Like wild horses, mermaids, and nymphs, they travel through time and space, while their bodies are subjected to a ritual of death and resurrection. They transport the audience into the struggles and desires of their bodies. The Dutch premiere of this raw and poetic work celebrates collectivity and embraces the risk of visible existence.
The performance is embedded in a more extensive program full of reflections on the individual in relation to the collective. With a living exhibition Robin Nimanong, the Trans Yearbook exhibition, and moves from the Utrecht Ballroom Scene. The legendary Amber Vineyard is hosting the evening, so don't miss out!
