In this Ballroom workshop one thing is for sure: you better werk! Led by Brazilian trans sisters Irmãs Brasil, also featured this year in the festival’s opening performance Eunuchs, you’ll experience the power and technique of walking the runway. Posing and performing become an empowering life lesson: claiming space, celebrating yourself, and feeling uplifted by community. Inspired by Legendary Mother Viní Ventania 007, the sisters introduce you to the world of Ballroom. Born in the sixties and seventies in Harlem, this subculture and community were created by Black trans women, later becoming the foundation of voguing. Put on your heels (or your favourite shoes) and get ready to be challenged: supermodel energy guaranteed!
Everyone is welcome, and Irmãs Brasil would also love to meet people from the local ballroom scene!
