71BODIES 1DANCE | Daniel Mariblanca

What does it mean to be trans gender? What does it mean to live in the closet and what does it mean to come out? From his own urgency to share his experiences about his transition from female to trans man, the Spanish Daniel Mariblanca interviewed 71 trans genders from all over Europe. 71BODIES 1DANCE embraces their stories and shares their fears, doubts, feelings of relief and liberation. The one single body on this empty stage is loaded with vulnerability, strength, shame, pleasure and empowerment. Intimately, it challenges our own preconceptions of beauty and desire and of what a body is to us.

Part of this interdisciplinary project is the exposition Black Little Boxes, in which you’ll meet the interviewed trans genders.

After the performance, a dialogue with the maker will take place.

This performance ticket gives you free entrance to the What You See Afterparty where you dance on the beats and where students of the HKU surprise you with their pop-up performances.
